Hello, I am a student teacher and I would love some advice incorporating STEM activities for my future classroom.

Make sure you use the NGSS Hub http://ngss.nsta.org/
and find lessons that incorporate STEM. Look around the area where you live and find out issues that affect the community that your students could possibly find a solution for.
In my area, we have flooding issues. A teacher I know had her middle school students investigate the problem to find a solution. Despite the rapid growth and increase in homebuilding in the area, there was a problem with debris and trash in the sewers. The students did detailed observations, sampled the items blocking the drainage, and researched the age of the sewage system in the downtown area. Two years after they presented their findings to the city council, new sewage lines were put in all over the downtown area and the flooding issue has eased.
