Hello All,

Does anyone have a chemistry lab that meaningfully incorporates the use of a microscope?

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Check out this article, that includes an activity where students observe the crystals within a copper deposit. Let me know what you think!

Does anyone else have other labs that use microscopes?

Hello,

When discussing crystallization in ionic compounds, we looked at silver nitrate single replacement on a piece of copper wire using a microscope. The effect is a tree-like formation appearing on the copper wire. We did this as an activity before winter break.

Hope this is an idea!
