I am proud to be a member of NSTA, a professional organization of the highest caliber that is recognized worldwide! The professional support and resources that are available to our membership allows me to stay current and involved in our district, state and national curriculum decisions and practices. As a NSTA Online Advisor, I am honored to provide support while growing alongside our fellow science educators. When listing two words that explain the alternative middle and high school students in my classroom they are "engaged" and "empowered." I believe I'm passing on my passion of learning - one student at a time.

John Graves energized participants during his Teaching Science and Engineering Practices in the Elementary Classrooms virtual conference session. John used discrepant events to "hook" teachers in identifying and becoming comfortable locating NGSS standards, and fostering and encouraging well developed student questions. This session will be a valuable resource as I guide, instruct and ment...

Hi LaToya, I am replying to your posted question concerning NSTA Cohorts and how their groups are using and sharing information, in hopes that you will receive insight, along with a few suggestions. Education students at several universities also use the Learning Center as their main source of study and reference. They have a password that opens their account on a common class page where...

5 Understanding Assessment
Assessments are an integral part of classroom planning and instruction. We all know what strong assessments are meant to do, gather data from students on their progress and comprehension so that instruction can be adjusted to meet their learning needs. This collection supports educators in developing the most precise and accurate assessments for their specific needs. Formative, summative, short answer, multiple choice, graphic organizers, journal entries and performance based are only a few of the formats discussed and illustrated in all levels of NSTA Journal Articles. Strong educators will be able to read assessment strategies at one level and adjust to make them viable for their classroom on a different level. This collection is a must to save to your NSTA personal MyLibrary accounts.
