My goal is to become an Elementary Education teacher with an English concentration. I hope to be able to help a lot of children down the line in becoming a teacher. I feel that the class and NSTA will give the resources that I need to be able to teach science successfully. My ultimate goal is to be able to open up my own daycare that will specialize in both special education and general education.

I love how your department implemented the the holiday into the lesson. It is a great way for all the students to get involved and have fun while learning. I will defiantly have to keep this in mind to implement something into my future classroom. Maybe have the students dress up as little mad scientist and e able to explore different stations and maybe even invite the parents in to see what the k...

Hi Mary, This must be an exciting time for you and I am sure nerve racking but I feel that you would be great. When it comes to keeping things gender equal pick choose things that equal that don;t necessarily respond to just girls or boys like the color idea. If you come up on an activity that requires the girl or boy choice make sure that part of the activity can have a boy and girl option s...

The activity explained in the article is a great way for students to get involved and excited about learning science. Students work and learn better when the activities are engaging and educational at the same time. The students learned about different types of animal habitats and what certain animals need to survive. Then the students went outside and were able to look for animals and their habitats while taking pictures with the digital cameras. I thought that was a great idea for the students already know the outside area and now with some more knowledge can realize hey that pile of sticks isn't just sticks but an animal's home. Having the digital camera and being able to take notes allows the students to become more interactive with the assignment. For now the student would want to talk about what they have recorded and seen. The pairing of the activities inside the classroom takes the learning to another great level for further understanding of what has been seen and taught. I would recommend this article to everybody.

I really find this resource and the activity along with it a great thing to have. It is a common issue in classrooms on how to bring children together with different cultural backgrounds and this project really brings the children together. IT allows the children to get background information on another cultural that they may know nothing about and could prompt a student of that culture to speak up more since it is a topic that surrounds them. This along with the plant lesson creates a great lesson overall. The plant side gives the children some insight on nutrition, what affects plants like light and community garden. There is a lot that can be done with this activity and I recommend this article to anyone.
