I work in outreach and communications at Montana State University's Extended University in Bozeman. We develop and deliver STEM outreach programs such as Climate In My Backyard, NanoDays, Extreme Yellowstone Expedition and others. I am also co-leader of the Montana Girls STEM Collaborative.

Hi - one of our Montana State University graduate students created a classroom activity on this topic. Out here in the Rocky Mountains, the kids understand elk, so depending on where you live, you may have to modify that part. It is called Scat, Transects and Changing of the Seasons .
