I love the holiday themed lesson plans! I feel that this really gets the students engaged in what they are learning because they are having fun while doing it. I also feel that elementary teachers are great at incorporating learning with fun. However, what happens when students get to middle and high school? I feel that sometimes, teachers do not consider having fun while learning, and important a...

I think using acronyms is a great way to help students memorize terms! It gets the children to study in a way where they can familiarize with words they already know. I remember when I was in school, acronoyms helped me so much and I still remember some today! I am right now in college studying to be an elementary school teacher, and I know I will be using this concept with my students since I wil...

Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:02 PM in Science - Not my favorite subject to teach
Hi everyone! Deanna, I completely understand your frustration about teaching Science. I am not a teacher yet but amd currently in college studying to be an elementary school teacher. I picked elementary school because I love working with children and being the base to their educational learning. However, I have thought about the issue of having to teach every subject including ones that I am no...

4 Very Informative Resource
A Close-Up Look at the Red Planet, is a wonderful, very informative, easy to navigate, resource. I liked the way they set up this resource. It starts off with an introduction that is very capturing because it talks about life existing on Mars. Then it has links on the right to click on to learn more. The links had very interesting titles that would make almost anyone want to read them. This resource also provided links to the resources they used. The best part about this resource were the lesson plans they provided for teachers to use if they wanted to in their classrooms. This is an awesome tool and I am going to remember that for when I start teaching science to a class!

5 Great Resource!
Earth, Sun, and Moon: Earth's Seasons, is a wonderful resource to look at. It is filled with a lot of information that teachers can use when they want to teach something very important about the Solar System. It is filled with picture and diagrams to really explain why the world goes through certain seasons. Right at the beginning of the resource, is lets you know what you will be able to do after reading the whole source. Therefore, you will not be disappointed about what you may or may not have heard at the end of it. The concept of seasons is one of the most difficult things for students to learn. It's not about distance from the Sun. You have to notice earth's orbit and rotation. This is shown in a lot of depth in the resource which teachers can show to their students. Overall, I loved this resource!
