I love this site. I am an early childhood education student, about to begin my senior year/student teaching. Every year on campus we try to host a fall STEM Day and a spring STEM Day for an area elementary school. a couple of years ago we designed one of the STEM nights around the theme "Girls Just Wanna Have STEM". This would be a great girls night STEM idea to try this year. Thanks for the post!

This is an awesome first day idea. I love the idea of having students use tools they may need later in the year, like microscopes. It's also a great way to familiarize younger students with their new surroundings. 5 Awesome opportunity
I loved having the opportunity to watch this seminar even though I couldn't be there for it live. It was a great explanation of the NGSS and how education needs to change to incorporate the NGSS. I like the emphasis on hands on engagement and inquiry processes. I also liked how much time was spent on CCC's as found this somewhat confusing before hand.

5 Great standards resource
This guide is a great resource to introduce the NGSS standards to teachers. It breaks it down into four activities that start with just familiarizing yourself with the standards to understanding the vocabulary and structure and discusses the conceptual shifts in the standards. This resource would be a fun in-service activity for schools that are just introducing NGSS or for new teachers who are not yet familiar with these standards.
