I teach an Environmental Systems class. I show multiple movies throughout the year as we discuss different topics. As an introduction to various environments and the importance of plants and animals in a healthy ecosystem I show the Lorax. During the spring we discuss how water can be polluted and hurt people. I show A Civil Action with John Travolta. This movie is about a court case that too...

I know that my local garden/nursery is always excited to help our school out in anyway. They have helped local towns set up small aquatic ecosystems. I am lucky that my school has a small tank on campus already so I take my students out fairly often to observe interactions of living, nonliving organisms, as well as plants and animals. Good luck!

Something fun that I do with my high school biology class, but that could be simplified for a fifth grade class is to have my students make a cell brochure.
