Gabriella Rouch

Hi, my name is Gabriella Rouch and I am a student currently studying Elementary Education at FIU. I think being a teacher comes with many challenges, but also with many rewards. I look forward to having my own class some day and being able make a difference in the lives of our children.

I have also taught the phases of the moon using Oreo cookies and the kids LOVED it! The only challenge was having my students take the cookie apart and carve the cream out without breaking the cookie. Other than that, it was an activity that was fun and more importantly they learned from it. One more thing I might add is you can take this lesson outside of the classroom and apply it at home. E...

I just visited the website that was recommended and I have to say it is awesome! I specifically looked at science for kids and it is great. They give you so many ideas of ways you can do experiments for different lessons. I can't wait to try some of these experiments in the classroom. Plus, the best part is you can find something for all ages.

5 Rocks
I think your collection is great! I almost wish I had chosen to teach this lesson myself. The resources you chose are really good and I also like the variety of information you put into this collection. The article I liked the most was the one that talks about the "WHY" question. I know this article will help prepare you to answer questions from students who wonder why they need to know how to classify rocks and why it is important that we should continue to observe them. Again, I think you have a wonderful collection that can help any educator successfully teach a lesson about rocks.

6 Resources

This collection will help me create an inquiry lesson about the moon. I made sure to add some resources that were age level appropriate for my third grade class. In addition to choosing these resources I wanted a book or article that could help me find a way to help the students with their observations outside of the classroom. That is why I chose The changing moon and Moon Phases and Models. The rest were to help me develop background knowledge for this lesson.
