  This article presents a brief overview of the tried and true reading comprehension strategies taught in most undergrad teacher in training courses. And while I did not find anything “new,” the article offers a brief and concise review of these strategies, which could serve as a refresher.

In addition to discussing strategies, the authors also provide tips for supporting struggling readers. Overall, I think this is an excellent article that provides practical ideas and tips for improving reading comprehension in science.

Several charts/tables are provided that highlight various reading comprehension strategies, and special support ideas for struggling readers are mentioned.
