This Web Seminar, developed in collaboration with the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) took place on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. In this program Jessica Fries-Gaither, Project Director and Elementary Resource Specialist for the Ohio Resource Center and Dr. Carol Landis, Education Coordinator at the Byrd Polar Research Center featured resources from the online professional development magazine, Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears for K-5 educators. Ideas For Use
This web seminar can be used by new teachers of science or by those who have not taught science in the context of the polar regions. The presenter provides a content update on polar science, how to integrate this content into literacy teaching strategies, and online educational resources in the NSDL collection that relate to the topic.
