Force and Motion: Computer Requirements

NSTA Online Short Courses are interactive learning experiences delivered via a computer with Internet access. Below are the minimum computer requirements for a successful short course experience.

SciPack:

SciPacks are on-demand e-professional development to help you better understand the content you teach. The SciPack provides a system check to make sure that you have the required computer elements for a successful experience. Your computer should have the following:

  • Operating system
    • Windows 98, 2000 or XP
    • Mac OS 9 or OS X V10
  • Internet connectivity
    • 56K modem minimum
    • Broadband* (recommended)
  • Browser (cookies and Java must be enabled)
    • Windows
      • Internet Explorer 5.5* or higher (recommended)
      • NetScape 6.2 or higher
    • Mac
      • Internet Explorer 5.2
  • Monitor
    • Minimum 800 x 600 resolution
  • Sound card and speakers
  • Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device

    • Flash Player

Apple Mac OS X:
  • Mac OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.9, and 10.4
  • G3, G4, G5, or Intel processor
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 20 MB free disk space
  • Microphone (internal, USB, or iSight)
  • 28.8 kbps Internet connection
NOTE: For a better audio signal, we recommend using an external microphone and external speakers. Common PC microphones do not work in a Mac microphone jack, so Mac users should use USB microphones. We do support the internal microphone in an iSight camera, under OS X 10.3.9 or later UltraSPARC Solaris:

The first time you login to a short course web seminar, Elluminate Live will perform a system check to detect if your computer has Java installed. If you do not have Java installed Elluminate will install it for you.
