Jennifer Arnswald Jennifer Arnswald
Jen Arnswald is the President of the Michigan Science Teachers Association and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Ionia Public School. She has collaborated on many projects including the NGSS EQuIP Professional Learning Facilitator's Guide, NGSS Example Bundles, NGSS Evidence Statements, NGSS@NSTA Hub, and projects with the Michigan Department of Education focused on the new Michigan Science Standards (NGSS). Jen is also a national EQuIP Rubric trainer for Achieve and workshop presenter for the National Science Teachers Association.

Prior to her work in Ionia, Jen was the K–12 Science Educational Consultant at Kent Intermediate School District in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role Jen worked with 20 school districts, providing K–12 professional development and science supports. Jen also has experience teaching K–8 math and science.

Jen holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis on math, science, and arts integration from Western Michigan University and a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Ann Arbor Michigan.

Mary Colson Mary Colson
Mary Colson is an eighth-grade Earth science teacher at Horizon Middle School in Moorhead, Minnesota. During her 23 years of classroom teaching, Ms. Colson has engaged students with the big ideas of Earth science through authentic explorations in the lab and outdoors. She has given numerous presentations on Earth science curriculum and on teaching literacy in the science classroom at both state and national conferences. In 2008, Ms. Colson received the Medtronic Foundation's Science Teaching Award for Middle Level Science in Minnesota.

Ms. Colson recently served on NSTA's Council of District Directors (2013-2016) representing Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. She was a member of the writing team for the Next Generation Science Standards, 2011–2012. She served as president of the Minnesota Science Teachers Association, 2009–2012. Ms. Colson served on Minnesota's Science Standards Revision committee, 2008–2009. Her current interests include being a mentor for, and a scientist with, her own students and sharing those experiences with other teachers.

Ms. Colson has a BS of Geology from Allegheny College, Pennsylvania and an MS of Geology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She completed her teacher certification as a Lyndhurst Fellow at UT Knoxville.

David Evans David Evans
Dr. David Evans is the executive director of the National Science Teachers Association. From 1993 to 2002, Dr. Evans worked at NOAA, serving the organization in several different capacities, including as the Assistant Administrator for Oceanic & Atmospheric Research. He was a tenured professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island and a classroom teacher in Media, Pennsylvania. Dr. Evans holds a Ph.D. in oceanography from the University of Rhode Island and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Zoe Evans Zoe Evans
Zoe Evans is the Principal at Bowdon High School in Bowdon, Georgia and the NSTA District V Director. Before becoming an administrator in 2012, she served as a middle grades science teacher for nineteen years in both Florida and Georgia. She was the 2005 Georgia recipient of the Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and is a Georgia Master Teacher. Mrs. Evans was a member of the NGSS writing team and has collaborated in many projects including the NGSS Evidence Statements, NGSS Example Bundles, and the NGSS EQuIP Professional Learning Facilitator's Guide. Additionally, she is a NGSS Curator and a NGSS EQuIP Trainer for Achieve.

A native Georgian, Zoe earned a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education, master’s degree in middle grades science, and specialist’s degree in middle grade science from the University of West Georgia. Additionally, she has received certification in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia.

Joe Krajcik Joe Krajcik, Ph.D
Joseph Krajcik is director of the CREATE for STEM Institute, a joint institute between the Michigan State University College of Natural Science and the College of Education to improve the teaching and learning of science and mathematics through innovation and research. He is also a faculty member in science education at the CREATE for STEM Institute. During his career, Dr. Krajcik has focused on working with science teachers to reform science teaching practices to promote students’ engagement in and learning of science. He is currently the principal investigator and co-principal investigator for two National Science Foundation grants to design assessments and curriculum materials aligned with the Next Generation of Science Standards. He served as lead writer for developing Physical Science Standards for the Next Generation Science Standards and lead writer for the Physical Science Design team for the Framework for K – 12 Science Education.

Betsy O’Day Betsy O’Day
Betsy O’Day is currently a fifth-grade teacher at Hallsville Intermediate School in Hallsville, Missouri. Her 21 years of classroom teaching experience has also included special education, middle school science and seven years as an intermediate elementary science specialist. In addition to classroom teaching, she has worked with students and adults in the area of science in informal learning environments such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H. Betsy is an NSTA@NGSS curator and serves on the CBC/NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book Committee. She was a member of the writing team for the Next Generation Science Standards and collaborated on the NGSS Example Bundles and NGSS Evidence Statements projects. An active member of Science Teachers of Missouri, she has served on the board, most recently as the 2014 president. Betsy is the 2010 Missouri recipient of the Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Science.

Tricia Shelton Tricia Shelton
Tricia Shelton is a High Science Teacher and Teacher Leader with a BS in Biology and MA in Teaching, who has worked for 20 years in Kentucky driven by a passion to help students develop critical and creative thinking skills. Tricia is a 2014 NSTA Distinguished Teaching Award winner for her contributions to and demonstrated excellence in Science Teaching. As a Professional Learning Facilitator and NGSS Implementation Team Leader, Tricia has worked with educators across the United States to develop Best Practices in the Science and Engineering classroom through conference presentations, webinars, coordinating and co- moderating #NGSSchat on Twitter, and virtual and face to face PLC work. Tricia's current Professional Learning Facilitation includes work around the Next Generation Science Standards and helping STEM students develop the 21st Century Skills of critical and creative thinking, collaboration and communication (including Social media and Video) and Project-Based Learning. Tricia serves on the NGSS@NSTA Advisory Board and works as a NSTA Discover the NGSS Trainer and NGSS EQuIP Rubric National Trainer for Achieve.

Ted Willard Ted Willard
As director of NGSS@NSTA for the National Science Teachers Association, Ted Willard supports implementation of the NGSS by creating resources such as web seminars, conference sessions, workshops, books, and journal articles. In addition, he oversees the content of the NGSS@NSTA Hub, a website that offers dynamic browsing and searching of the NGSS, tools to support curriculum planning and professional learning, and classroom resources focused on the standards. Previously, Ted spent 12 years at AAAS Project 2061, where he was responsible for the development of the Atlas of Science Literacy, Volume 2, and involved in many of Project 2061's efforts toward standards-based education reform—including teacher professional development, curriculum resources development, assessment development, and science education research. Ted also spent five years editing science textbooks for commercial publishers and is a former high school physics teacher.
