Preparing for the Journey to Space: Energy
|
This symposium provided participants the opportunity to interact with NASA scientists and education specialists.
Teachers learned about the recent changes made to the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station (ISS) as
NASA "returned to flight." They also learned about the upcoming mission to install new solar panels on the ISS,
about the Sun as a source of energy, and about the ISS power systems. Two activities were modeled, one about the
Sun “In the News” and how it can affect those living and working in space and another one about collecting solar
power and measuring temperature changes. Participating teachers received educational materials from NASA.
