From Astrobiology to Zoology: Igniting Students’ Interests in Science Careers
|
During this half-day symposium, Sally Ride Science scientists and education specialists
shared information with the teachers about the wide variety of STEM careers available,
the many paths to becoming a scientist, and the vibrant men and women involved in
science today. The presenters also performed activities that enhanced the participants'
knowledge about science careers and served as models for activities the teachers
could do with their students in the classroom. The program ended with a informal
presentation and Q&A session with Dr. Sally Ride. This symposium was designed for
teachers of grades 6-9. All participants received educational materials from Sally
Ride Science, including a book and an educational poster focusing on science careers.
This symposium was held at the NSTA National Conference on Science Education in
Boston, MA. Sally Ride Science is a science content company dedicated to supporting
girls’ and boys’ interests in science, math and technology
