How to Submit Quality ExploraVision Entries
|
This Web Seminar took place on November 5, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern
Time. Presenting were Nancy Carter, teacher at Mediapolis Community Schools in Mediapolis,
Iowa, Mary Harris, teacher at John Burroughs High School in St. Louis, Missouri,
and Arthur Eisenkraft, co-creator of the Toshiba ExploraVision Awards program. The
presenters provided tips on how to submit quality ExploraVision entries.
The presenters provided information on the basic components of ExploraVision entries,
the various ways teachers and students can submit entries, and some tips and pointers
on how teachers can help their students produce higher quality entries. Members
of the NSTA and Toshiba teams attended the program and assisted the presenters by
answering many of the participants’ questions via voice and on the chat.
Forty-five (45) participants were present at the live Web Seminar in addition to
the presenters and NSTA staff. Participating educators represented the states of
Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New
York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. One person attended the program from
Canada and another from Romania. Seminar participants received a one year subscription
to one of NSTA’s SciGuide for completing the evaluation form at the end of the program.
Here are some comments provided by the participants at the end of the Web Seminar:
- "The judging criteria and the discussion of the importance of various parts
of the project are helpful in guiding students."
- "Very helpful - well organized, clear, easy to follow. Amazing access to experts."
- "The combination of presenters worked to give teachers all the tools necessary
to be successful!"
- "Gave valuable pointers on methods to enter and questions were answered quickly."
Thanks to the participants and the presenters for the learning opportunity, the
