Enhance Your Content and Pedagogical Knowledge Using NSTA Resources: Physical Science
Force and Motion Scipack Simulation

This web seminar took place on June 26, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. eastern standard time. The presenter was Don Boonstra, NSTA Coordinator for Online Advisors.

Don Boonstra explained how the Learning Center--NSTA's ePD portal with over 11,600 resources, a community of like-minded individuals, and professional learning tools--can enhance and extend educators' content and pedagogical knowledge of physical science topics. Don Boonstra outlined several types of physical science resources available on the Learning Center, particularly Science Objects and SciPacks. He also demonstrated several methods for finding high quality professional learning resources in the Learning Center. Participants explored two simulations found in the Force and Motion SciPack and related Science Objects. Participating educators searched Science Objects in the Learning Center and added several to their libraries. Two collections of free NSTA resources were also shared with the attendees.

Here are some comments provided by the participants at the end of the Web Seminar:

  • “I liked that even though I have been using the NSTA site for a little while, I still learned even more about the resources available.”
  • “I had been using some portions of the learning center. This will encourage me to explore it in greater depth.”

Thanks to the participants and the presenter for the learning opportunity, the interactions, and a job well done!
