The NSTA Learning Center: Free Professional Learning Resources for Educators
This Web Seminar took place on October 25, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The presenter was Flavio Mendez, Senior Director, NSTA Learning Center. In this seminar, Mr. Mendez introduced participants to the over 3,400 resources that are available for free in the Learning Center.
The PowerPoint, related resources from the NSTA Learning Center, and web links from
the presentation are now contained in the above resource collection. Clicking on
the collection link will place it in your Learning Center, My Library,
neatly organized under the My Resource Collections tab.
During this web seminar, Mr. Mendez gave an overview of the NSTA Learning Center and discussed the role it can play in a blended model of teacher professional learning. He shared examples of the Learning Center’s free resources, including interactive content modules called Science Objects. Participants tried out several simulations from different Science Objects. They also had a chance to visit the Learning Center and begin adding resources to their libraries to access later. Mr. Mendez also talked about the Learning Center online advisors, who are available to help via live chat, and he described how to earn activity points and badges for all of the professional learning activities in the Learning Center.
Seminar participants received one of the NSTA SciGuides. A certificate
