Science Instructional Leadership in an Era of New Standards
Caroline Kiehle is the associate director of professional development for the Center
for Inquiry Science. Caroline co-founded the Center, formed within the Institute
for Systems Biology, located in Seattle. The Center for Inquiry Science supports
the vision of bringing the experience of inquiry-based learning to all students
in Washington State via a systems approach to science and math education. Caroline
directs CIS programs that provide professional deveopment for teachers to increase
their effectiveness with all their science and math students, and coordinates research
on these programs to test effectiveness and efficacy. For these programs, Caroline
collaborates with school district leaders, education leaders, and scientists/mathematicians.
Caroline builds partnerships for CIS at the local, state, and national level.
