Strategic Goals 2010
All web seminar participants use online tools that allow them to mark-up presenter's slides or share desktop applications in addition to engaging in chat with others online and answering poll questions

This Web Seminar took place on October 12, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The presenters were Dr. Francis Eberle, Dr. Christine Royce, Dr. Pat Shane, Dr. Jerry Valadez, and Jean Tushie. In this Seminar, the presenters talked about the process of creating NSTA’s Strategic Goals 2010. They also discussed how NSTA will work to meet the goals through programs and initiatives.

This program was delivered by members of the Strategic Goals Task Force, as well as NSTA’s Executive Director, Dr. Francis Eberle. The presenters shared information on the development of the goals and talked about the input of stakeholders who weighed in throughout the process. After giving an overview of the specific goals, Dr. Eberle explained how they would become a focus for NSTA staff, the governance structure of NSTA, and chapters and associated groups.

Nineteen (19) participants were present at the live Web Seminar in addition to the presenter and NSTA staff. Participating educators represented the states of California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. Two participants attended the Web Seminar from locations outside the United States: Romania and Qatar.

A certificate of attendance was deposited into participants PD Record and Certificates area in the NSTA Learning Center for completing the evaluation form at the end of the program.

Here are some comments provided by the participants at the end of the Web Seminar:

  • “I like to know what organizations that I support are doing - so that I will (want to) continue to support them!”
  • “Keeping me up to date to the changes that I can anticipate in science education and to learn more about the role of NSTA.”
  • “It unveils the vision and drives the direction of my professional development.”
  • “Gaining an understanding of the process behind some components of this organization.”

Thanks to the participants and the presenter for the learning opportunity, the interactions, and a job well done!
