Leaders for Science Education: Preparing an Application for
the NSTA Board and Council
This web seminar took place on September 17, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. eastern
daylight time. The presenter was Lois Mayo, chair of the NSTA nominations committee.
In this program Ms. Mayo shared information about NSTA's leadership structure and
provided tips on applying for nomination to the 2014-15 board and council.
Web seminar participants watched a brief video featuring NSTA’s 2013–14 President, Bill Badders, inviting participants to apply. Ms. Mayo then defined the distinctions
between the NSTA board and council and provided details on the roles and responsibilities
of each position. She discussed the criteria to apply and shared strategies for
submitting a successful application. Participants responded to quiz questions about
the information shared and asked their own questions via the chat.
