Exploring Bioethics - A New Model for
Classroom Instruction

Two Web Seminars were presented, one featuring Brookline High School educator Liz Crane and Director of Education for the nonprofit Northwest Association for Biomedical Research, Jeanne Ting Chowning.
The presenters introduced modules from the upcoming curriculum supplement created by EDC and NIH. They discussed how to use the models in a classroom setting, led participants through question simulations, and talked about issues with ethical education. The presenters also shared science expertise on ethical concepts of fairness, respect, weighing harms and benefits, and others. They answered questions from the participants and presented strategies for facilitating rich ethics discussions in the science classroom. These Web Seminars were designed for educators of grades 9-12.
