Engage Students Grades 6-8 in a FREE STEM Competition Associated with Light and Sleep
Patty McGinnis is a National Board Certified Teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience at the 7-12 grade level. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards that have benefitted the students of Methacton School District in Eagleville, Pennsylvania. Mrs. McGinnis served as NSTA’s Middle Level Science Teaching Division Director from 2012-2015, is past president of the National Middle Level Science Teachers Association, and serves on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association. Her interests include the use of technology in supporting science practices. She also holds a Master of Science in Biology from George Mason University, a Master of Educational Technology from Boise State University, a Master of Education from Miami University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Washington State University
Sarah Beistel is the Program Manager for the Bright Schools Competition, where she serves as the day to day contact and lead regarding competition administration, marketing/outreach, event planning, and project registrations. She has extensive experience in earned media monitoring, message development and spokesperson training, and social math training. For the past 4 years, she volunteered as an Everybody Wins! Power Lunch reading mentor with two local Washington, DC public elementary school students. Sarah holds a Bachelors of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science from American University’s School of Public Affairs in Washington, DC.
