FDA/NSTA Web Seminars:

  Food Safety and Nutrition

All web seminar participants use online tools that allow them to mark-up presenter's slides or share desktop applications in addition to engaging in chat with others online and answering poll questions. Two web seminars that focused on food microbiology, food processing, food epidemiology, the food label, the 2005 Dietary Guidelines, and the public health impact of food safety took place with presenters Camille Brewer and Sherri McGarry of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The presenters talked about the contents of the food label and how consumers could use the information to make better choices and foodborne illness outbreak investigations respectively. The Web Seminars are designed for educators of grades 5–8. Check out our archive and PowerPoint presentations to view the seminars.
