The Ocean's Role in Weather and Climate

During this half-day symposium, NOAA scientists and education specialists guided
participants through easy-to-understand explanations about NOAA's mission, hurricanes,
their formation, tracking, and prediction, and el nino and la nina southern oscillations
and their consequences. In addition the presenters performed activities that enhanced
the participants' knowledge about the aforementioned topics and storm surge. The
program was designed for teachers of grades 5-12.
All participants received educational materials from NOAA. Two weather radios were
given away as door prizes.
