During this half-day symposium, Karen Ansberry and Emily Morgan, authors of the NSTA Press publication More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons: Using Children’s Books to Guide Inquiry, Grades K-4 shared with participants several model lessons, the benefits and cautions of using children’s picture books in science, information about the essential features of inquiry and the BSCS 5E model, and strategies teachers can use to incorporate research-based reading comprehension strategies into science inquiry lessons.
This symposium was held at the NSTA Area Conference on Science Education in Cincinnati, OH. The program was designed for teachers of grades K-4.
