Hubble’s Universe: New Discoveries from a New and Improved

This Web Seminar took place on January 28, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern
Time. Presenting was
Dr. Frank Summers
of the Office of Public Outreach at the Space Telescope Science Institute. Dr. Summers
gave information about the missions to enhance Hubble and shared some of the updated
images and talked about the impact they have on astronomy.
This is the final part of a four part series of Web Seminars sponsored by NASA
that promote the International Year of Astronomy. In this program, Dr. Summers showed
how adaptations and updates to the Hubble Space Telescope have made the twenty year
old machine, better and more capable of exploring the Universe. Dr. Summers gave
information about the missions to enhance Hubble and shared the images of what those
updates look like and the impact they have on astronomy.
Forty-seven (47) participants were present at the live Web Seminar in addition to
the presenter and NSTA staff. Participating educators represented the states of
Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania,
Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Five participants
joined from countries outside of the United States: Brazil, Canada, Romania, South
Korea, and Qatar.
Seminar participants received one of the NSTA SciGuides. A certificate of attendance was deposited into participants My PD Record and Certificates area in the NSTA Learning Center for completing the evaluation form at the end of the program.

is part of the curriculum. I hope to be able to share parts of the recorded webinar
with the students.”
