The Ship Shape: Making Models webisode was developed by the National Defense Education Program LabTV.

Abstract: Before ships and submarines are built Navy engineers construct and test models. They take computer drawings from ship designers, select the right materials and then create precise scale models. They test the models in an enormous basin. Modeling is a lot less expensive than building full-size ships and lets the engineers try out some amazing new designs.
