This article delights the reader with animated dialog between a teacher and her first graders as they learn about animals and their habitats. There is a photo of the class observing fire-belly toads eating mealworms, and this is the first time many of the children have ever observed one animal eating another live animal. Another photo showcases the class’s yellow paper bus. The students take real trips pretending that they are in Miss Frizzle’s magic school bus as they go on their scientific excursions. “To the bus!” “Beep! Beep! Off you go…”
