I really enjoyed this article and see the need for our students to be able to read and apply what they learn form informational texts. As the author states, we know they increase vocabulary by reading not memorizing. the articles has great points fro taking your students deeper with informational texts. Since we use textbooks in a very limited way, our students need to be reading information elsewhere. There is also a link to the suggested trade books which I didn't realize was available . I will be getting with my school librarian soon ... .

This is a great resource! Always looking for new ways to enhance teaching styles and I love that they do so while connecting it with the Next Generation Science Standards. Great points!
