This web seminar took place on May 18, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The presenters were David Evans, NSTA Executive Director, Keri Randolph, Assistant Superintendent of Innovation for Hamilton County Department of Education in Tennessee and president-elect of NSELA, Jodi Peterson, NSTA Assistant Executive Director of Legislative and Public Affairs, and Larry Plank, Director of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education for Hillsborough County Public Schools.
David Evans began the web seminar with a brief discussion on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Evans was followed by Randolph, who talked about the National Science Education Leadership Association (NSELA) in relation to ESSA, and provided information on upcoming conferences and leadership opportunities within NSELA. Peterson and Plank presented relevant information on the ESSA, describing the implications for schools and school officials. ESSA Title II grant funding was discussed, as was Title IV Block Grants. Many questions were answered during the program.
