This column provides original articles on innovations in case study teaching, assessment of the method, as well as case studies with teaching notes. In this month’s issue students learn about centripetal and frictional forces through a case study involving an amusement park ride.

This article takes a gravitron ride and uses it to explain how centrifugal force applies to Newton's Second Law, F=MA and Newton's Third Law of action/reaction motion in a ride.

This article gives an interesting way of studying Newton's Laws of Motion. It presents a "case study" where two high school students are discussing their ride on the Graviton at an amusement park. Students in the physics course are asked to read the case study at home and then discuss it in class. This "case study" method makes the lesson more personal to them and they are more interested in their lesson as a result.
