A first-grade research project incorporates trade books and challenges misconceptions.
This article is a comprehensive report of a short focused research project that involved using NGSS and CCSS both. It was a project done with first graders learning about the phases of the moon. They integrated observations, readings, discussions and writing into the one project. From the report produced by the children I would say they now understand the phases of the moon, which a lot of adults do not understand. Maybe with this method of teaching students will teach the adults!!
