Teaching about observable features of animals | Posted in Early Childhood

Hi Guys!

I am a preservice teacher who is trying to plan some lessons out about how to explain to students about grouping plants and animals according to observable features. I have a few activites planned, but I am struggling to think of different activities to do to help with teaching them. Providing reasons for them is really difficult for me to think of how to come about that.

Thanks!

Project-based learning in a geology classroom | Posted in Evaluation and Assessment

I am a pre-service teacher, currently student teaching in a high school geology classroom. I would like to implement more project-based learning with my students. What are some effective strategies that you have found helpful in implementing a project-based learning unit? Also, how do you incorporate collaboration and self-assessment during a project-based learning unit? Any comments or advice would be extremely helpful. Thank you! -Anna Maynard

Gardening at school with young children | Posted in Early Childhood

I feel that the idea of a classroom garden throughout the whole school year is a great idea. You can do different plants throughout the seasons that change. I think this is a good thing to do in your classroom because it let's students learn the proper necessities of plants and how to care for them. And they are very pretty!! A lot of schools don't have access to any sort of garden in their backyard and this can be a good idea.
