Storage Room Discovery

So a co-worker was moving classrooms over the past week and stumbled across these packed away in a cardboard box. Apparently, they came from an old science classroom, but I have no idea what they were used for. The label on the bottom said Delta Education, but a search of their site was unproductive. I'm thinking of using them as a type of "discovery" jars. Each container could be used to display something interesting. So far all I've come up with is a density tower. Any other suggestions? They didn't come with any sort of lid.

Could you grow seeds in them - I had a root viewer that sort of looked like that long, long ago.

Capitalize on student creativity -- You could give them to teams of students and have them invent ways to use them!

You could use them to make ground water models. http://www.azwater.gov/AzDWR/Hydrology/Modeling/images/Physical_Model_000.jpg

That looks neat! I'm definitely going to use one of the containers for that!
