What are other peoples opinions on bringing aviation education back in the schools?

Hello Kayla,

I think you could incorporate aviation into any unit on forces or motion.  I think it would be a great phenomenon to anchor a unit, too.

I've attached a STEM lesson on flight - originally made for grade 6, but you could modify it for almost any grade.

Hope this helps,

Gabe

Kayla, interesting question!  I don't know if they still do it but in the early 1990's, Roanoak, VA., had ground school for their students (think it was only HS) and also owned a small personal plane for students to learn to fly.  They had gone the magnet route to try to keep their students in school.  They had different schools that focused on performing arts, music, science, aviation....and I can't remember what else.  They were exciting schools to be in and students vied for places.  They also had regular middle and high schools.  I don't know if the aviation filtered down to the elementary schools but I do remember the elementary schools of music, performing arts, and science.  Dr. Taylor
