5E lesson on Weather and Climate

Hello!

My name is Elizabeth Morales and I am studying to become a teacher at the University of Houston.I am currently working on a lesson (in 5E format) about weather and climate. I am currently struggling with coming up with appropriate activities, I would love to hear if you guys have any suggestions. Something that I am looking for is an activity that I can also use to evaluate my students understanding.

Thank you!

Hello Elizabeth,

What grade level are you wanting information/activity for? Until then here are a few resources you can peruse:

1. Windows to the Universe;

2. Weather's Impact on Climate from Better lessons;

3. PBS's What is Weather? K-2 level;

4. The Learning Center's Resources, some of which are free.

I have attached a weather/climate unite from Legends of Learning and my own unit that I use for secondary leve-9-10th graders but it is adaptable. There are assessments for students to show what they have learned in my unit. Adapt as needed if you think it will work for you.

Hello, thank you so much for your resources they are very helpful and full of information. The grade level that I am wanting information is for 1st grade.  I can see how I can most definitely adapt your weather project to a more simplistic version for 1st graders. In my 5e lesson, I was thinking of making them fill out their observation into a weather template and then having them present their observation that they gathered throughout the week.

Again, Thank you so much.

Awesome! I wasn't sure if you were K, 1st, 2nd, but decided these would be a start!
