Resources for Asperger's syndrome Student

Tue Mar 11, 2014 10:59 AM

This is a general topic- don't know where I should post- and I apologize if I should not use this forum. This is regarding resources for a young student who is 11 years old and has been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. His parents are looking for Science related summer camps for the young man. They reside in Northern Virginia. Do any of you know of any good science summer camps that serve such students in Northern Virginia?

I found this information to start but could not find anything specific to Northern Virginia

Hope this helps as a beginning to your search for a camp

I found this wonderful website that had some tip-sheets. If you scroll down the page you will see a grouping for Asperger's syndrome. I wish I had it when I had a student with this syndrome.

Most of these are over for the 2014 summer, but perhaps mom could save the information for next summer. I searched for the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area summer STEM programs, because depending on where she lives in Northern Virginia she may be close to some of these, even though they say Maryland or DC.
