Volunteer opportunity with K-8 education nonprofit
Mon Jul 24, 2017 11:08 AM
The Chemical Educational Foundation® (CEF) is a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to exposing K-8 learners to the excitement of science and fostering STEM literacy. We are currently looking for science educators and professionals who are interested in volunteering with us as part of our Content Development Team (CDT), which reviews the scientific content for our You Be The Chemist Challenge® program. The Challenge is an academic competition for students in grades 5-8 that tests their knowledge of chemistry against the backdrop of a fun, quiz-bowl style competition. The volunteer reviewers collaborate with CEF staff via e-mail, which allows volunteers to shape their involvement to fit their own time constraints.
Last year the Challenge reached over 55,000 students across 40 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. By collaborating with CEF as part of the Content Development Team, you can have a significant, far-reaching impact on students at a time that is crucial to developing an interest in the sciences and in STEM careers.
If you are interested, please get in touch with me (Katie Wetstone, email@example.com) for more information and share a resume. You can also visit CEF at www.chemed.org for more information. If you know others who may be interested, please pass along this information to individuals or to other organizations!
