My name is Maritza Grajeda and I hope to one day teach at an early childhood center or be a pre-k teacher. I am currently a student teacher for a bilingual pre-k classroom, which I am so excited about. I hope to learn a lot this school year and make a positive difference in those students lives.

To make your science lessons engaging from the start, I think young children need hands on activities. Activities that will require them to move around, use manipulative, and make connections to the outside world.

I would recommend any Eric Carle books. His books are repetitive and colorful for young children to read. A few weeks back, I did a science lesson on animal characteristics and read From Head to Toes by Eric Carle. I used the animals in the book to talk about some animal characteristics.
