I am a Biology teacher at Boone County High School in Florence, Kentucky. This is my 20th year teaching at Boone County High School where I am also an alumni. I have always had a love for Science since I was a high school student in Biology class. I love teaching through phenomena based learning and integrating the NGSS into my curriculum.

Hello Jada, I love the picture perfect science books   they integrate reading and science.  There is a lesson called the amazing caterpillar and students learn about the life cycle of a catepillar along with the life characteristics of animals.   The lesson also the books , "From Catepillar to Butterfly" and "The Very Hungry Catepillar".  The lessons use the 5 E's and are very user friendly.

Hi Dana, I think an excellent way to review food chains and food webs is to dissect owl pellets and then have students create food chains / webs of the things they find in their owl pellets.  They can review the vocabulary as they label these food chains/webs.
