Makensy Stump

I am currently a senior at Wright State University Lake Campus where I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. For the 2019-2020 school year, I will be student teaching in first grade. I plan to graduate in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and with an ECE Generalist Endorsement in Grades 4-5. I enjoy antiquing, riding four-wheelers, mushroom hunting, fishing, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.

Tue May 21, 2019 12:43 PM in STEM in the Classroom
It is so important for teachers of every grade level to implement STEM into their classroom. I love the idea of implementing STEM every day by asking students to check the weather. I am fascinated by weather and enjoy watching the Weather Channel every day to get the latest weather reports. I even have the Weather Channel app that I check frequently. I think it is so important for students to be ...

Mon May 20, 2019 4:28 PM in Lots of Science, Not A Lot of Time
I am currently a senior majoring in Early Childhood Education, and from my previous experience through my field placements, I have also noticed that there isn't a lot of time allocated for science daily. From reading the other comments and from my own curiousity and research, my tip and suggestion for you is to try and integrate science through nonfiction texts in reading and phonics/word work. K...

5 Rocks Review
This is the first SciPack I have completed, and I found it to be a great refresher and review on the different types of rocks and their classifications. I really enjoyed the break down of content and learning objectives at the end, making this relevant to teachers of multiple ages and grades. I will definitely be keeping this as a resource and referencing it in the future.

4 Flow of Matter and Energy in Ecosystems Review
This is the second SciPack I have completed, and I found it to be a great refresher on matter and energy flow in our ecosystems. I did find that the assessment seemed to be a bit trickier than the first SciPack I completed. I really enjoyed the break down of content and learning objectives at the end, making this relevant to teachers of multiple ages and grades. I will definitely be keeping this as a resource and referencing it in the future.
