Hi Emmalee, I am a preservice teacher and I have seen my science/math mentor use notebooking every day in her classroom. She has then takes notes on the topic of the day. For example, I led the lesson on precipitation today. I had them write the word at the top of their page and then the definition, which I provided for them. We talked about two types of precipitation: rain and snow and they wr...

Hi Dawn, I actually really love the idea of take-home science. I think it is important to make that connection with the students and show them how what they are learning connects to their lives. If not, the students do not understand the importance of learning the material to begin with. I do understand that parents are busy and cannot always help students with experiments but there are ways ar...

Hi Cassidy, I am a pre-service teacher as well and will be graduating in the spring. I am always looking for great activities in any subject to collect. I really loved your idea about the hands-on weather activity. I have heard of others before, like making a cloud in a jar, but this activity is unique and would definitely grasp the attention of the students. I definitely want to try it out and...

5 Fun, Interactive Lesson
Great article with an interactive lesson and information students will love! The lesson on how flowers turn to fruit is fun and will really get the students involved! The article lays out the whole lesson for you and provides diagrams, charts, and pictures. There is even an extension part to the lesson along with a fun poem. This is definitely a lesson I would teach my students! Would definitely recommend to elementary school teachers.

4 Great Hands-on Project for Upper Level Elementary
This article focuses on a hands-on electrical project for 4th and 5th grades. It goes beyond just another hands-on activity for learning, it allows students to make a connection with their own lives and create a working model. This would be a great activity to do in the classroom and would definitely be engaging! I cannot wait until I can try it out with my own students. Directions, concepts, materials, and discussion/report are written out clearly that any teacher could follow. There is even an enhancement section, that allows you to take this project even a step further. Definitely recommend!

4 Great lesson for the classroom!
I would definitely recommend this book. It has a great lesson on creating art projects from recycled materials. It even provides the discussion questions and assessments, so the work is all done for you! I think students would love this activity and learn a lot from it. I can't wait to try it out in my own classroom!
