Shannon Tagger

My name is Shannon Tagger and I have been a middle school science teacher since January of 2011. I have always wanted to be an educator because I love helping others and making a difference in the world. Teaching can be very difficult and stressful, so I find balance by doing lots of fun activities in my free time. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We love to attend movies, go to new restaurants, do karaoke, and travel. I believe that every student should have a Growth Mindset. My dream is that all students leave my class feeling confident that they have added tools (skills) to their tool belt of life that will allow them to accomplish their goals. I believe that success looks very different for each person. My philosophy is that education should provide students with a variety of skills that will allow them to turn any opportunity into a successful career. Gandhi said "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Being a teacher allows me to impact hundreds

3 Cross-Disciplinary Engineering Projects
What made me click on this article was the desire to find examples of engineering activities that align with the performance expectations we are required to teach. I believe many teachers feel overwhelmed as they are implementing the PE's along with newly added engineering concepts because it fills like an "extra thing." It would be best to teach both concepts congruently. Although the activities in this article are engaging, I was not impressed with the effort that was put into actually finding specific connections with PE's.
