Aryssa Jassoy

I am a student in the elementary education program at SIU Carbondale. I am 22 and went to high school at Zion Benton Township High School. I am currently observing in my second fourth grade class. One of my favorite classes at CLC was my environmental biology class because we learned about pollution and were able to take field trips to different biomes around us.

Maggie, I completely agree that patience is a neccessary component to being a successful teacher. It is a really difficult attribute to attain, but I think we need to keep in mind they are probably learning what we teach them for the first time. Personally, I do not equate excellence and effectiveness. To me, the word effective is results based. The result of an effective car is that it gets you where you need to go. In relation to teachers, their effectiveness would be determined through assessments, and most schools determine this through standardized testing.
