Sun Nov 25, 2018 11:35 PM in Assigning Homework
I think homework can be so helpful for students, but sometimes it can be a waste of time for them, for teachers, and even for parents. I think that it is better to assign general homework after you have completed the days tasks in the classroom. What do you think the students need more practice on? What can the students do at home to deepen their understanding of a concept? I also believe that ho...

Inquiry-based learning is very beneficial for younger elementary students! Having the students engage in activities that they can relate to helps them understand the science context behind it better, instead of just giving them some definitions and concepts. 5 Awesome!
Hey Melanie! I think your collection is great! You found so many great resources for your lesson. I actually did this lesson last semester and you found some great resources I didn't find that I think will be super helpful. I specifically love the Illuminating Food Webs! I think your students are going to find that activity super exciting and interesting and it's like teaching 2 science lessons in 1!

I really liked this article. It was very helpful to understand that it is just as important to teach students how to retain information by using strategies that they can use in all subjects as teaching them the actual concepts. Teaching students how to retain information better can help them in their future.
