I agree with the people who have admitted that even though we might have studied science, and even (gulp) worked in science, that being and feeling prepared to teach it (or anything) does not necessarily follow from being an 'expert' in science. ;( What has helped me to break out of my expert area is to think about how to map all of science to a fairly small matrix of 9 or 10 key concepts.
