Not sure of what grade you are teaching, but maybe you could link it to conductor and insulator. Have students test the packets and maybe disucss why they are used. Have them see if there is another material that may be better? Discuss why or why not companies dont use that material...cost, looks, ect.  You could also talk about the substance inside (SLG).

Try the Max Axiom series, they are graphic novels, but do a great way teaching on the topic. There is also a teachers edition book that you can purchase that includes lessons. Picture Perfect also offers a great mix of nonfiction and fiction trade books to go with lessons!

5 I had those same misconceptions
I really enjoyed this article. I didn't realize how many of the physical and chemical changes that I knew of were really misconceptions. This article did a great job explaining and reversing some of the misconceptions that I had. I love the flow chart they included as well.
