Good morning! One simple engage that works with any topic is I Notice, I Wonder. For this activity you post a picture(s) and simply ask students what do they notice and what do they wonder. Good morning!  I understand your concern, but integrating science into ELAR doesn’t have to be a burden. Your Non Fiction text unit would be a great area to do this and you know there is always at least one Non fiction passage on the STAAR. 5 I had those same misconceptions
I really enjoyed this article. I didn't realize how many of the physical and chemical changes that I knew of were really misconceptions. This article did a great job explaining and reversing some of the misconceptions that I had. I love the flow chart they included as well.
