Kirsten Jones

Hi! My name is Kirsten Jones. The grade I am most interesting in teaching is Kindergarten, but I will teach all the way up to 4th grade. I had several great teachers through out my educational career but, I had one teacher in high school that really helped me seal and make my decision to become a teacher. I am a Senior year at UT Tyler and cannot wait to graduate this December! Class of 2020! My family and friends mean the world to me! I love doing anything and everything that I can outdoors! I love camping, hiking, hammocking, or simply going for a walk!

Hi there! I am a recent college graduate and will begin my teaching career here shortly. I am very excited and very nervous! My question is how would you conduct a safe and effective hands on experiment with 1st graders? Do you have any examples or lessons that you have done in the past? Thank you! Kirsten Jones

4 Article Review
1. Why did you choose to put this article in your collection? Be specific...."because it looked interesting" is not sufficient. I chose this article to put into my collection because I have always been interested in Earth’s seasons. I know that the Earth has different seasons and I always wanted to know what really causes them to happen and occur and what the moon has to do with the seasons. 2. What new information did you learn? I learned about what causes Earth’s seasons and how different regions of the Earth receive more energy than other regions and areas. 3. What TEKS would it go with and how could you use this information in your classroom? 112.15 4th Grade Science 8C (8) Earth and space. The student knows that there are recognizable patterns in the natural world and among the Sun, Earth, and Moon system. The student is expected to: (C) collect and analyze data to identify sequences and predict patterns of change in shadows, seasons, and the observable appearance of the Moon over time. I could use this information in my classroom by having my students complete an observation over a period of time of the moon and different seasons. 4. Based on your experience, is there anything in the article that you agree with? Disagree with? Have questions about? The one question I have about this article is why is the first day of Summer so late in June?
