First you could find out what they are interested in using a survey. Then you could take that information and create an interactive hands on activity that they will enjoy because it's of interest to them.

A coupe weeks ago I taught a second grade lesson on animal habitats. For engagement I showed a video about fresh water habitats using Brainpop jr. You could also find many great videos and resources from Pbs kids and Discovery ed.
